Mission Statement & Statement of Faith

North Florida Christian Service Camp seeks to create an atmosphere that helps both youth and adults focus their attention on the Lord Jesus Christ. Our programming and facilities are geared toward helping people make a decision to become a Christian as well as building them up in faith. This is achieved through accurate study and application of the written word of God and through living examples of committed Christ-like staff. By design, North Florida Christian Service Camp is a cooperative effort of the Christian Churches throughout North Florida to be a ministry tool used of God, to bring about relationships that produce maturity and discipleship in the lives of his people. In short, we are a product of the churches to be a tool for the churches. Since 1965, this spirit of cooperation is evident not only in our summer camp and winter retreat programming but also throughout the year as we host numerous church events seeking the same goal.

  • We believe in one God-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Mat. 5:16; Mat. 5:45; Mat 6:1; Mat. 6:4; Mat. 6:8; Mat. 6:9; James 1:17; John 1:1; John 14:9; Gen 1:2; John 4:24; John 14:16-20; 2 Peter 1:21)
  • We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible (Gen. 1:1; Acts 17:24-28; Heb. 11:3)
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, my one only Savior (John1:14; 1 John 4:9; John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:18) Who was born Jesus of Nazareth, both fully human and fully divine, conceived of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary (Mat. 21:11; John 19:19; John1:14; Romans 5:15-17; Col. 2:9; 1 John 1:1; Mat. 1:18; Luke 1:26-38) Who suffered and was crucified under Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:1-46) Who died and was buried, and Who rose again bodily from the dead on the third day (Luke 23:44 – 24:8; John 20:24-29; 1 Cor. 15:3-8) Who ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father (Luke 22:69; Acts 1:1-9; Col. 3:1) Who will return to earth to judge both the living and the dead (Mat. 24:36-42; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:10-11; Acts 10:39-42; 1 Peter 4:5)
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit Who is an active and operative part of the triune God (John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Rom. 8:26-27) Who indwells every Christian (1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19; 2 Tim. 1:14
  • We believe in the Bible – God’s Holy Word, Scripture. We believe God inspired the autographs (original writings) of the Scripture and those autographs were consequently without error (Mark 12:36; John 14:26; John 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; 1 Cor. 2:12-13; 2 Tim. 3:14-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21) We accept the Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice (Isaiah 40:8; Mat. 5:18; 24:35; Rom. 15:4; Heb. 4:12)
  • We believe the Bible teaches that man, created by God, willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; Rom. 3:23)
  • We believe the Bible teaches that salvation – the forgiveness of sins – is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (Mat. 26:28; Rom. 5:9; Eph. 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7)
  • We believe the Bible teaches that one receives God’s grace by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Christ and being immersed into Christ (Rom. 5:1-2; Luke 24:45-47; Acts 3:19; 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9; Mat. 10:32; Rom. 10:9; Philippians 2:11; 1 John 4:15; Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:1-7; Gal. 3:27; Col. 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21)
  • We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ, founded on the Day of Pentecost and consisting of all Christians everywhere (Matthew 16:13-18; Acts 2:14-47)

North Florida Christian Service Camp began as a dream in 1964.  People from 4 Christian Churches saw the need for a camp in the North Florida area-Daytona Christian, Northshore Christian, Englewood Christian and Live Oak Christian Churches were the roots of NFCSC.

The timeline of that dream continues to the present.

-1964 The search for land to start a camp in North Florida

-1965 February, Englewood Christian sold the original land to NFCSC for $7000.

-1969 The construction of the first buildings began.  Campers stayed in tents for the first few years of the summer program.

-1970’s Started construction of the Swimming pool and the Dottie Shaw Worship Center(a memorial to a teenage girl named Dottie Shaw who died in a car accident). The Shaw family was from the Northshore Christian Church and her father, Marvin still lives in Middleburg today.

-1990 Purchase of the Retreat Center across from the main camp and on the larger portion of Lake Johnson.

-2000 Both dorms were given a total overhaul & modernized, sidewalks installed.

-2002 Purchase of two additional parcels/ The Canal house & the Lake House (next to the Retreat Center).

-2005 Remodeling of the building behind the Lake House to be known as the Bunk House.

-2005 Purchase of a 4 acres of lake property & mobile home for additional staff.

-2005 Purchase of 13 acres adjacent to the Retreat Center (with small cabin).

-2006 Bathroom addition to the Dottie Shaw.

-2007 Purchase of 27 acres on the top of the hill bordering Christian Camp Road and Goldhead State Park.

-2009 Renovation to the Lake House converting it into what is now the camp office.

-2010 Purchase of a 4 acre lakefront property to later be converted into a smaller, self contained retreat house for groups of less than 15 persons with three bedrooms and 3 baths with adult accommodations.

-2011 Renovation has begun on the Retreat Center upgrading it to accommodate groups from 15 to 35 people.
